What many people fail to consider when they're planning on moving to or vacationing in another city is that the weather can vary quite drastically from what they're used to at home. Sometimes unsuspecting tourists step off the plane into what feels like a central heating boiler and end up turning around again and leaving. We want you to stay, so we're going to prepare you for what the weather in Henderson, Nevada is usually like. That way you can psych yourself up beforehand.
To an event planner in Toronto, this will seem like a totally upside down way of thinking, but summer is actually the least popular time for tourists on account of how hot it gets. The city has an arid, desert climate so the heat is dry, but that doesn't change the fact that temperatures in August are usually between 80 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit and can spike as high as 117. There is little to no rain during this period and abundant sunshine, so make sure to wear sunscreen and a hat and keep hydrated.
In fact, there is very little rain at all in Henderson regardless of the time of year. The city gets only about 4 inches of total rainfall per year, no snow, and only about 50 days that are even cloudy. Therefore if it's reliably sunny weather you're looking for in a city, perhaps so you can open a branch of your school for equestrian in London, Ontario, then Henderson is the place for you.
The reason tourists and Northern retirees are attracted to Henderson is because the winters are both short and mild. If there's any rain to be had it will probably fall during the winter but not with the regularity of time and frequency standards. In December and January, temperatures can actually go as high as 80 degrees but are more likely to be between 35 and 60 degrees. The all time record low for Henderson is 8 degrees, which occurred in January.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not so hot in Henderson all year that the possibility of snow doesn't exist. Though you won't get the kind of snowfall you're used to from attending a language school in Canada, during the winter the mountains surrounding the city build up enough snow for skiing. As for snow in the city itself, this is exceedingly rare and pretty much only happens at nighttime when the temperature is cooler.
